Anne Hirschel of Southfield, has won the $500 first prize in the Nathan Burkan Memorial Competition at the Yale Law School it was an- nounced by Hal David, president of the American Society of Com- posers, Authors and Publishers. The winning essay is entitled "Compensating the Copyright Holder When Copyright Yields to the Public's Right to Know." The Nathan Burkan Memorial Competition is sponsored an- nually by ASCAP in memory of ASCAP's first general counsel who died in 1936.
