Best Kosher Sausage Co., the
Chicago-based nationwide meat
products processor and marketer,
is announcing the introduction of
a 100-calorie-per-serving pure
beef kosher hot dog.
Containing one-third less
calories than the regular kosher
hot dog, it has a fat content of
one-third less than the United
States Department of Agricul-
ture's 30 percent standard.
Best Kosher Sausage Co. de-
veloped this new healthful hot dog
after more than two years of re-
search and product testing to
eliminate sugar content, reduce
fat and salt and yet obtain a
hearty and flavorful product. The
new product has undergone ex-
tensive consumer panel taste test-
ing.
One of the largest kosher meat
processors in the United States,
Best Kosher sells about 60 per-
cent of its products through inde-
pendent and chain supermarkets
and delicatessens. The remaining
sales are to the institutional
trade. Best products are distrib-
uted locally by Raskin-
Kitchenmaid Foods, Inc.
In addition to the 100 calories
per frankfurter, the nutritional
breakdown is: 6 grams of protein,
1 gram of carbohydrate, 8 grams
of fat and 270 milligrams of
sodium. These nutritional values'

are boldly printed on the package.
The ingredients are: beef, water,
salt, flavoring, sodium phosphate,
paprika, sodium erythorbate,
sodium nitrite.
Best's new hot dog is all-beef
without any non-meat fillers,
meat by-products or artificial
coloring and meets all the
standards of both the United
States Department of Agriculture
and the Rabbinical Inspection.
Best Kosher produces nearly
1,000,000 kosher hot dogs each
week along with more than 50
other main course and snack food
items.
Rounding out the Low Salt, Low
Fat, No Sugar line are All-Beef
Salami, Bologna and
Knackwurst.
