Dr. Nagel has won several prizes, including top awards in the National Arts Club, Concert Artists Guild, Geneva, Juilliard Orchestra, and National Federa- tion of Music Clubs competitions. His American appearances in- clude five concerts in Town Hall. He has taught at the University of Michigan since 1969, and has been associated with the National Music Camp at Interlochen since 1971. Sorton is assistant principal oboist with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. He was graduated summa cum laude with a Master of Music degree from the Cleve- land Institute of Music studying with John Mack, principal oboist of the Cleveland Orchestra. The Yusufovs have nine chil- dren, six of them whom are now living in Israel. Despite their in- vitations, the parents and three younger children have been re- fused permission to reunify the family as dictated in the Helsinki accords. The eldest •son, Evnatan, di- vorced his Russian wife in 1977 and emigrated in 1979 with her permission. However, his ex- father-in-law then demanded alimony from Evnatan's family in his absence. The Soviet govern- ment is using this to prevent the Yusufovs from emigrating. Sherene Schostak marks bat mitzvah Sherene Ann Schostak, daugh- ter of Phillip Schostak of West Bloomfield, and Lillian Schostak of Kentwood, Mich., celebrated her bat mitzvah on Nov. 17. Services were held at Temple Emanuel of Grand Rapids. Rabbi Albert Lewis officiated. A lunch- eon celebration following the service was held at the Grand Plaza Hotel of Grand Rapids. Sherene, an honor student at Kentwood High School, is con- tinuing her Hebrew education at Temple Emanuel.
