Rosenfeld and Judith and Alan Perlman celebrated his bar mitzvah last Saturday at the Birmingham Temple. Rabbi Sherman Wine officiated at the ceremony which also cele- brated the bar mitzvah in absten- tia of Russian refusenik Edward Doks, son of Lenoid and Bella Doks of Vinnitsa, Ukrainian SSR. Edward's grandparents are Konstantin and Lidya Traktir- shcik of Nahariya, Israel. Edward cannot have a bar mitzvah be- cause it is forbidden by Soviet law for any person under the age of 16 to take part in a religious cere- mony. Others who shared Joshua's special day were grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Friedman of Farmington Hills, Mrs. Belle Perlman of Westchester, Pa., and Mrs. Bertha Sonshine of South- field, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Son- shine of North Miami, Fla. Edward and his parents have been attempting to emigrate from the USSR since 1979. They were refused because of Doks' army service and his occupation as a mechanical engineer. Edward's mother, a petroleum engineer, has not worked since they applied for emigration. Joshua received guests at an aneg Shabbat following the serv- ice, and at a party in his honor at the Sheraton Oaks Hotel later that evening. Birmingham, Michigan 48008 PIETY HILL, INC. Wendy M.
