B'NAI MITZVAH

Joshua Rosenfeld
twins bar mitzvah

Joshua Edward Rosenfeld of
Farmington Hills, son of Martin
J. Rosenfeld and Judith and Alan
Perlman celebrated his bar
mitzvah last Saturday at the
Birmingham Temple.
Rabbi Sherman Wine officiated
at the ceremony which also cele-
brated the bar mitzvah in absten-
tia of Russian refusenik Edward
Doks, son of Lenoid and Bella
Doks of Vinnitsa, Ukrainian SSR.
Edward's grandparents are
Konstantin and Lidya Traktir-
shcik of Nahariya, Israel. Edward
cannot have a bar mitzvah be-
cause it is forbidden by Soviet law
for any person under the age of 16
to take part in a religious cere-
mony.
Others who shared Joshua's
special day were grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Friedman
of Farmington Hills, Mrs. Belle
Perlman of Westchester, Pa., and
Mrs. Bertha Sonshine of South-
field, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Son-
shine of North Miami, Fla.
Edward and his parents have
been attempting to emigrate from
the USSR since 1979. They were
refused because of Doks' army
service and his occupation as a
mechanical engineer. Edward's
mother, a petroleum engineer,
has not worked since they applied
for emigration.
Joshua received guests at an
aneg Shabbat following the serv-
ice, and at a party in his honor at
the Sheraton Oaks Hotel later
that evening.

mitzvah at 8:30 p.m. services
today. at Temple Beth El.
Wendy is a seventh grade stu-
dent at Bloomfield Hills Middle
School. She will twin her bat
mitzvah ceremony with that of
Alena Flekel of the Soviet Union.
Alena is a resident of Odessa,
USSR. She and her family have
not been allowed to immigrate to
Israel where her grandmother
lives.
Wendy's grandparents are Mr.
and Mrs. Harold Kaplan of Palm
Beach, Fla., and Mrs. Henry
Rosen of Miami Beach, Fla. She
