The Jimmy Prentis Morris Branch of the Jewish Community Center announces the second con- cert in its "Fill The Night With Music" cultural series — "A Cele- bration of American Musical Theater" — on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. at the branch. The evening will begin with a wine reception at 7:45 p.m. The concert will be followed by a coffee and dessert afterglow. Michigan Opera Theater voc- alists will perform selections from Broadway classics including West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof, Oklahoma and A Little Night Music. "Fill the Night With Music" is produced by the JPM activities committee cultural arts commit- tee, chaired by Elaine Yaker and Donna Pearlman. Tickets may be purchased from committee members or at the JPM Branch, 15110 W. 10 Mile, Oak Park, 967-4030. `Staying Well' topic of health lecture series for senior adults "Staying Well," a health lecture and workshop series for senior adults, sponsored by the Jimmy Prentis Morris Branch, begins its last half of the year with the Dec. 18 lecture entitled "Living and Loving — Sexuality after 60." On Dec. 25 the workshop will be "Role Playing — Common Problems of Communication." The lecture and workshop are being presented by members of Sinai Hospital's de- partment of psychiatry. On Jan. 15, the lecture is entitled "How to Improve Your Memory." The workshop, on Jan. 22 will deal with memory exer- cises. This lecture and workshop are also sponsored by the depart- ment of psychiatry. The Feb. 19 lecture is entitled "Catch Your Breath — Overview of Breathing Problems — Preven- tion and Treatment" and the Feb. 26 workshop will deal with pul- monary function testing. This lec- ture and workshop is being pro- vided by the department of pul- monary medicine and respiratory care services. "Staying in Touch" is the title of the March 19 lecture. The March 26 workshop will provide hearing tests and practical means of cop- ing with hearing loss. This lecture and workshop are provided by speech pathology and audiology. The department of pharmacy will provide a lecture on April 16 entitled "Using Medicine Wisely." The April 23 workshop will provide the participants with the opportunity to bring their questions and medications for dis- cussion. "Living Beyond Pain" is the title of our last lecture on May 21. The May 28 workshop will pro- vide people with the opportunity to ask questions about their pain. All lectures will take place at the Morris Branch on the third Tuesday of the month at 1 p.m. and the workshops will take place on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 11 a.m. This lecture and workshop series has been developed by the senior adult department of the Jewish Community Center and Sinai Hospital. It is open to the public at no charge. Trip to Hilbery set by senior adults The senior adult department will sponsor a trip to see Blithe Spirit at the Hilbery Theater at 7 p.m. Thursday, meeting at the Jimmy Prentis Morris Branch. Casino night slated at the Jewish Center The Jewish Community Center will host a casino night in celebra- tion of Chanukah at 8 p.m. Dec. 8 in the main Center complex. Among the prizes to be won are trips to New York City, Las Vegas and Atlantic City. There is an admission fee.
