Lillian Plotkin
A plaque, commemorating the
establishment of the Lillian Plot-
kin Memorial Grove of 1,000 trees
planted in the American Inde-
pendence Park in Israel, was pre-
sented recently to Marcus Plot-
kin, husband of the late Lillian
Plotkin, and to Mrs. Carrie Essex,
Mrs. F'lotkt aescriueu
committed Zionist, was a member
of Women's American ORT,
Hadassah and Cong. Shaarey
Zedek. She also was a supporter of
the Jewish National Fund.
She was a special education
teacher in the Southfield Public
Schools. In recognition of her
years of dedication, a special
scholarship in her memory was
established for the Southfield
schools.

Technion meeting
focuses on high tech
"Israel's High-Tech Revolu-
tion" will be discussed by Arnold
Sherman, at the American Techn-
ion Society, Detroit Chapter, pub-
lic meeting to be held at the
United Hebrew Schools on Wed-
nesday at 7:45 p.m.
Also on the program will be the
film Anna Ticho: Profile of an Ar-
tist. Moderator of the evening's
program will be Bernard J. Can-
tor, a board member of the Detroit
Chapter.
Sherman received a B.A. degree
in English literature and a M.A.
degree in Far Eastern studies. He
served as Senior Editor of Avia-
tion Week (1957-1963). He immig-
rated to Israel in 1963. Until 1982
he was at El Al, where he was a
vice president.
Sherman is co-author of the
book,Israel High Technology, and
of 16 additional books which have
been translated into Hebrew,
Spanish and Portuguese. The sub-
jects cover Israel's war, aviation,
tourism as well as thrillers and
poetry. Currently, Sherman holds
the position of executive vice
chairman of the board of gover-
nors of the Technion, Israel Insti-
tute of Technology.
