Bonn (JTA) — A federal court in Karlshruhe has ruled that prison penalties imposed on neo- nazis must not be suspended. The court, whose verdicts cannot be appealed, said that the current practice of placing neo Nazi de- fendants on probation can be viewed by the public as an unjus- tified softness toward right-wing extremism. The decision was taken in the case of a neo-Nazi who has circu- lated anti-Semitic propaganda for a long time. A lower court in Stuttgart sentenced the man to two years imprisonment but de- cided that the term would be sus- pended. The state prosecution ap- pealed against the suspension of the prison term.
