SERVING COMPLETE GREEK CUISINE

DANNY RASKIN

LUNCH and DINNER

FROM MORT LEWIS in
Florida . . . "Last night over 60
Detroiters embarked on the
Paddlewheel Queen for a steak
dinner and dancing boatride over
the Intercoastal waterway. Many
of us felt as though we were on the
Bob-Lo boat. The affair was truly
magnificent. It was Freilach time
as we talked about Dexter, Lin-
wood, 12th Street, Central High,
graduating classes of '47, '48, '50s
proms and Shaarey Zedek. The
gals and guys talked about their
clubs of the '50s. Some of the clubs
represented were: Cubans,
Cameos, Centennials, Lemax,
Jets, Sargons, Lucky Seven, Ten
Gents, AZA-Seymour Sobel,
Rex-Stephen Wise, AZA 63--M.
Marcus, DeMolay Mosaic . . . The
guys talked about our Tigers,
Lions, Red Wings, Pistons and
many friends around the country.
"Hy and Elaine Emory did a
masterful job in putting every-
thing together. They are expect-
ing a child any minute. They had
a great deal of help from Jerry and
Dolores Friedman. In some cases
where spouses were in Detroit,
those in our area came as singles
because they couldn't stay away.
It's a great feeling to see our De-
troit group making social plans to
see each other on these occasions.
"The entire idea of a Detroit
Club happened when Elaine
Emory (Herskovitz) went shop-
ping. She saw a Michigan license
plate and when she went over to
the car, there was Jerry Stein.
From this casual meeting the idea
of the Detroit Club was born.
"Our last affair was certainly a
success. One gal who heard about
the boatride went to her scrap-
book to find people she graduated
with. Enthusiasm over the De-
troit Club is fantastic.
"Decor on the Paddlewheel
Queen was Detroit Tiger uniform,
minute pendants with our names
on them and the Tiger block D on
our tables. All Detroiters pinned
their small pendants on their
shirts so those of us that are over
50 years of age were able to recall
others we haven't seen in 35 years
by name.
"We are most anxious to hear
from people back in Detroit. Our
Latke Party celebrating
Chanukah is the afternoon of Dec.
23. For info call Hy Emory, 683-
6531; Sally Landy, 472-6562; or
