Rabbi Gordon's
mentchlichkeit

Thank you for the profile on
Rabbi James Gordon (Oct. 26). It
was very impressive, but you left
out the most important part .. .
his warmth, his humor, his ability
to understand other points of view
without compromising his own. I
think the word mentchlichkeit
sums it up. People from all seg-
ments of the community recog-
nized his worth.
In a few years Rabbi Gordon
and his wife, Malka, will make
aliyah and our community will
have been enriched, having had
them here for over 20 years.

Numerous double standards
have been contrived by an uncon-
scionable petro-political world to
discredit Israel. France's fascist
National Front, led by J. LePen,
won 12 percent in June voting. It
received limited notice in the
American media. But when a
similar extremist, Kahane, won
1 1/2 percent of the vote in Israel,
the world media was filled with it!
Example Two: Reports were
widely circulated that water from
Lebanese rivers was being di-
verted to Israel. Israel Radio an-
nounced that four U.N. inves-
tigators found the report to be un-
true. Try to discover mention of
their findings anywhere else!
