"Monostotos" in The Magic
Flute."

by David Parsons. His baritone
I was smooth and attractive and his
performance was convincingly
light-hearted.
Paul Spencer Adkins' Tamino
was acted in a wooden manner,
while Sharon Christman's Queen
of the Night wonderfully contrib-
uted her difficult coloratura and
commanding stage presence.
Carmen Bathrop's Pamina was
sweet and pliant.
Keith Austin Brown (Monos-
totos) seemed a comic character
rather than a frightening one.
Jerome Hines (Sarastro) was
smooth and dignified.
Daniel Vines (High Priest),
Sharon Bennett (Papagena), Ruth
Jacobson, Jill Leasure and
Claritha Buggs (the Three
Ladies) were all satsifying in
their roles.
Dwayne Brown, Demetrice
Powers and Philip Jones (the
Three Boys) unfortunately at first
did not reach the pitch suggested
by Mozart, but improved after-
ward.
The parade of small, cuddly for-
' est creatures enhanced the fairy-
tale feeling.
As the opera comes to an end,
"he lovers are properly paired off,
good wins over evil and Mozarts'
The Magic Flute has displayed its
magic once again.
