Kenneth Libo will speak on "Jews in the West" at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 18 at the Book Fair. His talk is sponsored by the Jewish Parents Institute and Jewish Historical Society of Michigan. Co author of We Lived There Too with Irving Howe, Libo is a former editor of The Jewish Daily Forward. He has written for numerous publications including The New York Times, The Satur- day Review of Literature and American Jewish History. Dr. Libo was graduated with honors from Dartmouth College and received his Ph.D. degree from the City University of New York, where he has taught litera- ture and writing. Klez-Meydlekh, an all women's quartet from New York City, will present an evening of traditional klezmer music and Yiddish song - at 8 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Center. They will be sponsored by Work- men's Circle, Sholem Aleichem Institute, New Jewish Agenda, and Yiddish Committee of the Jewish Community Center. Janet Leuchter, lead vocalist, has studied and performed Yid- dish folksong for many years. On percussion, guitar, woodwinds, and vocal harmony is Laura Li- ben, a performer and composer. Vicky Gould, on accordion and piano, has been involved with Eastern European music, dance Kenneth Libo and song for many years. Fea- tured on the fiddle is Rebecca Mil- ler, who plays lively shers and frailachs as well as the slower doinas. Their program will include Yiddish folk songs with a variety of instrumentation, traditional Klezmer dance tunes and original pieces. Frank Stiffel, author of The Tale of the Ring: A Kaddish, will speak on "Life in Poland Between the Wars" at 1 p.m. Nov. 18. Stif- fel's talk is sponsored by the Chil- dren of Holocaust Survivors Asso- ciation in Michigan and Shaarit Haplaytah — Survivors of 1945. A Polish concentration camp survivor, Stiffel received the Editor's Book Award from Pushcart Press for his work. A resident of New York City, Stiffel
