The Jewish Community Center
announces Benny Schwarz has
joined its staff as the new
shaliach. Schwarz comes to the
Detroit area from Kibbutz Afikim
in Israel.
His involvement with the Cen-
ter will include activities with
youth, Jewish family holiday pro-
grams, cultural arts and the
aliyah center, of which he serves
as director.
Schwarz holds a Bachelor of
Arts degree in architecture and
town planning from the Technion
- Israel Institute of Technology in
Haifa. He served in the Israeli De-
fense Force as a sergeant from
1966 to 1969.
He was born in Czechoslovakia
and made aliyah in 1949. He
speaks four languages: Hebrew,
English, Czechoslovakian and
German.

Audiology lecture

The senior adult department of
the Jewish Center will sponsor an
audiology lecture and slide pre-
sentation at 9:30 a.m. today in the
assembly hall of the Jimmy Pre-
ntis Morris Branch of the Center.
A Sinai Hospital audiologist
will speak on hearing problems as
a prelude to the hearing screening
slated to take place Sunday from
1:30 to 5 p.m. at the main Center
complex.
Rabbi Elimelech Silberberg of
Cong. Bais Chabad of West
Bloomfield will speak on "Jewish
History Through the Eyes of the
Torah" at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the
assembly hall of the Morris
Branch. All seniors are invited
