Israeli educator to address ORT
Capital Funds event on Tuesday

Menachem Argov will be the
guest speaker on Tuesday at 8
p.m. at Women's American ORT's
Capital Funds evening honoring
Suzie and Fred Walters. The
meeting will be held in the home
of Dr. Arthur and Rochelle
Lieberman, 125 Martell Dr.,
Bloomfield Hills.
Argov was born in Brazil and
made aliyah with his family when
he was 6. He was educated in Is-
rael, and fought in its War of In-
dependence.
Argov has many teaching cre-
dentials in Israel and the United
States. He has been principal of
the ORT Comprehensive High
School in Kiryat Bialik since its
inception in 1965. He has received
many awards in the educational
field, among them the Women's
American ORT M.O.T. School of
the Year Award for 1978-1979,
and the 1984 School of the Year
Education Award, awarded by
ORT Israe.1

Greater Detroit Chapter, Bran-
deis University National
Women's Committee, will have a
book fund benefit at noon Nov. 7
in the North Park Towers penth-
ouse, 16500 North Park Dr.,
Southfield. Petite luncheon will
be served.
Guest speaker will be actor and
radio and TV personality Paul
Winter. He will present a pro-
gram entitled, "Images of De-
troit."
Assistant professor, depart-
ment of humanities, Wayne State
University College of Life Long
Learning, Winter was raised and

educated in Detroit. In 1941, upon
graduation from Central High
School, he attended the Univer-
sity of Michigan and was awarded
his B.A. degree in 1944. He con-
tinued as a teaching fellow receiv-
ing his master's degree in philos-
ophy.
Winter hosts a monthly TV
program "Arts Illustrated" on
Channel 56 as well as a weekly
Friday evening program "Theater
Music: Curtain Call" and a Satur-
day program "Free Play" on radio
station WQRS. He has made
numerous appearances with the
Attic Theater, Michigan Opera
Theater and performed in dinner
theater presentations. In 1975
Winter produced an award-
winning documentary on French
painting titled "Only Then Regale
My Eyes."
Book Fund Cards will be avail-
able for purchase to help support
Brandeis University libraries.
Guests are invited. There is a
charge. Harriet Band, chairman
for the day, is assisted by Ilene
Nemer, Ruth West, and Evelyn
Shapero. Ilene Crane is president
of the chapter, and Sylvia Heide-
man is program vice president.
