WILL SOON BE 50th an-
niversary. since Red, Devil, first
opened on Fenkell just east of
Greenfield . . . by Bassonette fam-
ily . . . Nov. 30.
Five years ago, Yahia Mawri, a
prince of a fellow, bought the Red
Devil and , not only maintained its
goodness . . . but even made it bet-
ter . . . Red Devil's round pizza is
rated among the best . . . and the
veal dishes also . . . but that
broiled chicken Yahia serves has
very few equals . . . Reason for its
tenderness and goodness is that
the chicken is not prepared in ad-
vance . . . and being a former
butcher, "Ya-Ya" knows how to
buy the best.
That's what we had recently on
another of our favorite visits to
the Red Devil for his delicious
chicken and fettuccini Alfredo
and those homemade soft, gar-
licky bread sticks . . . brought to
us by a fine waitress . . . smiling,
personable and efficient Mona
Morey.
Yahia is an even happier person
than ever these days . . . and that
fabulous smile is wider . . . His
wife Hila and their two children
from Yemen are in the United
States with him to stay.
