More money for student aid fund
object of annual Technion event

The Detroit Chapter of the
American Technion Society will
break with the tradition of having
formal dinners, when it has a
cocktail reception and petite buf-
fet at its 36th annual event, this
year scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Nov.
8 at Cong. Shaarey Zedek.
Guest speaker will be Yehuda
Z. Blum, former Israel ambas-
sador to the United Nations.
According to dinner organizers,
by choosing the new format for the
affair, a greater percentage of the
contributions will go to the Techn-
ion, particularly to its student aid
fund. Following Blum's remarks
and the program, there will be a
dessert table and social hour. .
For information and reserva-
tions, call the Technion office,
559-5190.
The celebration this year coin-
cides with Technion's 60th an-
niversary. In 1924, Arthur Blok,
the first Technion director, ar-
rived from England and opened
the school. Four years later, ten
engineers and seven architects,

Now Technion's campus is a
sprawling group of facilities built
on Mt. Carmel. Technion's 9,000
students can still study road con-
