BETH ACHIM'S youth depart-
ment will conduct a creative Sim-
chat Torah program on Thursday
6 p.m. in the main sanctuary.
'During this time, Simchat Torah
songs, stories and traditions will
be discussed and treats will be dis-
tributed.
The program is designed for
children between the ages of 3 and
9 and will enable these children to
take part in the holiday festivities
at a slightly earlier time.
Parents are welcome and
encouraged to remain with their
children for the synagogue's reg-
ular Simchat Torah service at
6:30 p.m.

B'NAI DAVID Story Hour (ages
4-7) and Junior Congregation
meet every Shabbat at 10 a.m.
Children learn prayers, customs,
blessings and games. The groups
are lead by advisers Joyce Lang
and Laura Lazarus.
There will be a Shabbat lunch-
eon in the synagogue succah
Saturday immediately following
services. There is no charge, and
all are welcome.
B'nai David youth groups are
open to members and lion-
-members on the following levels:
Shalom, kindergarten-grade two;
Ruach, grades three-five;
Masada, grades six-eight; Atid,
grades nine-12.
Talit and Tefilin, for ages 13
and over, meets alternate Sunday
mornings beginning Oct. 21, and
is open to all youth interested in a
combined program of services,
breakfast, discussion topic and
recreational event. For informa-

On Sunday, the following ac-
tivities will begin at 1:30 p.m.:
Ruach will have a games after-
noon with Ms. Lazarus, to be held
outside, weather permitting.
Masada will have a mystery
trip with - adviser Maureen
Broder.
Atid will have a trip to the
Franklin Cider Mill where mem-
bers will hold a general meeting
to discuss future events and elec-
tions.
There is no charge for these ac-
tivities. Reservations for all
events should be made by Sunday
at 10 a.m. to the youth office,
557-8325; or the synagogue office,
557-8210.

The BBYO Fall Conclave will
be held at Camp Maas on Oct.
26-28. The theme will be "Tradi-
tion." Highlighting this theme
will be Israeli dancing on Oct. 26.

who is a "good" Jew on Oct. 27, a
'Soviet Jewry simulation that af-
ternoon, and a values exercise on
-Jewish traditions on Oct. 28. In
addition, a program on teenage
alcoholism will kickoff BBYO's
"B'nai B'rith Against Drunk
Driving" effort for the 'program
year. Another highlight will be a
dance on Oct. 27.
Coordinators for the program
are Robbie Ellenstein of Jolson
AZA and Ellen Schoenfeld of
Masada BBG. Staff coordinator is
Jan Lachman.

announces the appointment of
Jeff Moss of Rose AZA as social
action/community service chair-
man. The Great Lakes BBG
Council announces the appoint-
ment of Tracy Aller of Brice BBG
as spirit chairman.
Akiba AZA will sponsor its an-
nual Halloween dance on Oct. 20
at Southfield-Lathrup High
School at 7:30 p.m. There will be a
nominal admission charge. Prizes
will be awarded for the best cos-

Andrea Jaron wins BBG position
Andrea Jaron, the daughter of
Michael Jaron and Roberta
Gottfried of Southfield, was
elected international BBG vice
president at the recent BBYO In-
ternational Convention held at
the B'nai B'rith Perlman camp in
Starlight, Pa.
Andrea is in her fourth year of
membership in BBG and a
member of Fanny Brice BBG.
Andrea was a founding member
and the first president of Ohr
Hashemesh BBG and has also
served as Great Lakes BBG Coun-
cil secretary and BBG Council
regional convention coordinator.
- She is a member of the Michigan
Region BBYO board of directors
and last year served as Interna-
1 tional BBG contest coordinator. _
