Formerly a re- porter for the Chicago Daily News, Peters has written about political matters ranging from events in Central America and the Soviet Union to the activities of the Ku Klux Klan, for publica- tions including Harper's, Corn- mentary, The New Republic, The New Leader, and Chicago Tribute and t he Chicago Sun-Times. She has also been on special assign- ment for CBS and PBS. He began his career as one of the first broadcasters. for Voice of America and served as an Army correspondent through World War II. As one of the original CBS news correspondents, Schoenbrun worked with Edward R. Murrow, Eric Sevareid, Howard K. Smith and Walter Cronkite.
