Beth Achim. Mrs. Jacobs studied privately with Marguerite Kozenn-Chajes. She was a music major at the Uni- versity of Michigan. Mrs. Jacobs sings with the Shaarey Zedek Friday night choir, with the Shaarey Zedek Sisterhood Chorale and is a soloist with the Bel Canto Choral Society. She has close ties to Pioneer Women since her late mother-in- law, Sarah Jacobs, was a life member. Mrs. Jacobs will be ac- companied by Mrs. Seymour Kraus. There is n charge., LOCAL NEWS Music Study program will feature `commentary and song' at temple Music Study Club of Metropoli- tan Detroit will have its next pro- gram meeting on Tuesday at 12:15 p.m. at the Birmingham Temple. A return engagement program of "Commentary and Song" will be presented by John McCollum, tenor; Nancy Hodge, organist; and an expert in vocal piano accompaniment will share the program. McCollum, lyric tenor of the concert, oratorio, radio, TV and recording, is a professor of music at the University of Michigan. After more than 30 years on the international performing plat- form, he is principally involved in teaching, singing recitals, and appearing on college campuses and at workshops as a master class teacher. His orchestral debut with New York Philhar- monic took place in 1951. He made his opera debut with New England Opera Theater in 1952. Prof. McCollum, former record- ing artist, is a graduate in jour nalism from the University o California (Berkeley) and was E, professional journalist in hiE early career. He now writes arti- 1 Iles and poetry. Hodge, piano accompanist and master class teacher in vocal lit- erature, has recently completgd ten years as a lecturer in accom, paniment at the School of Music.' U-M.
