On Oct. 26, an American Jewish youth accused of par- ticipating in the retaliatory ac- tions is scheduled to be sentenced by an Israeli court. Yehuda Rich- ter, 22, is a graduate of noted yeshivas in Chicago and Los Angeles; he emigrated to Israel in 1980 and served with distinction in a front-line unit of the Israeli Army. Now he faces many years in prison — for the "crime" of de- fending his people against their enemies. We plead with all concerned Jews to write or telegram Prime Minister Shimon Peres (address: Office of the Prime Minister, Jerusalem, Israel) and urge that Yehuda Richter receive a lenient sentence. If he was your son, would you not take the time to write a letter and urge your friends to do likewise? David Borac, Chairman, Justice Committee for Jewish Settlers, Beverly Hills, Calif. To our readers . Learning disabled articles lauded On behalf of the P'tach (Parents for Torah for all Children) pro gram of greater Detroit, I should like to thank you for your excel. : lent articles about learning dis- abled children (Aug. 3 and Aug. 10). Your articles brought to pub- r lic attention the story of these children, and what is being done for them. It is only with pubic awareness and support that pro- grams such as ours can continue. One item in your description of P'tach is erroneous, however, and it is important to us that it be cer rected. For more information about P'tach, one should call Mrs Bette Josephs, 399-6281. The article perhaps implied that P'tach is a part of Yeshivah, Beth Yehudah. P'tach, although housed in the Beth Yehudah building, is a separate and auti,-, omous school. Again, thank you for takin s interest in our students. Eliezer president, P'tach • • The Jewish News encourages our readers to share their opinions and comments.
