Me-morabilia and photographs
are being sought for the celebra-
tion of the 100th anniversary of
Cong. Beth El of Traverse City,
Mich., slated for August 1985.
Written materials, oral (on cas-
sette) reminiscences and any of
the congregation's original ar-
tifacts are needed.
Cong. Beth El has the distinc-
tion of being the oldest synagogue
building in continuous use in
Michigan and was cited in 1979
when the state of Michigan pre-
sented the synagogue with an his-
torical landmark plaque.
In the 1940s many congregants

moved away from the area. Ritv
items which were used in the sy'
agogue disappeared.
In 1980, the synagogue had
major interior renovation. T'
building was winterized, but t]
original architecture was
changed. The congregation
conducting a fund-raising dri
for a major renovation on ti
building's exterior.
