four Celebration.
Irving and Beverly Laker and
Harry and Sarah Laker have been
spearheading the efforts on behalf
of ZOA's Balfour Celebrations for
many years and have been leaders
in many communal and philan-
thropic campaigns in support of
Israel.
The 51st annual Balfour Cele-
bration, sponsored by the Met-
ropolitan Detroit District, Zionist
Organization of America, is set for
Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ford
Auditorium, starring concert
pianist David Syme, vocalist
Claire Barry and actor, singer,
dancer and comedian, Mike
Burstyn.
Proceeds from the Balfour Cel-
ebration are earmarked for ZOA's
many cultural and educational
projects in Israel, as well as its
public affairs programs in the
United States. Foremost among

the beneficiaries are the ZOA-
sponsored educational, seven-
school campus in Kfar Silver, Is-
rael, the American-Israel educa-
tional center, the ZOA House in
Tel Aviv and the Masada Israel
Summer program. Funds will also
be provided for the development
and dissemination of public af-
fairs guidelines among ZOA's 20
regions and 300 districts
throughout the United States.
Tickets to the Balfour Celebra-
tion Concert, in limited quan-
tities, are still available by calling
the ZOA office, 569-1515.

Mr. and Mrs. Philip Slomovitz
are the Balfour Celebration's
honorary chairmen and Mrs. Sid-
ney Z. Leib is honorary chairman
of the women's committee.
Chairman of the Masada Israel
Endowment program is Mrs. I.
Walter Silver, and Mrs. Norma T.
Hudosh is treasurer.

Sinai names compensation chief

Gary Johnson

Gary R. Johnson has been ap-
pointed director of compensation
in the department of personnel
services at Sinai Hospital of De-
troit.
Before coming to Sinai,
Johnson was assistant director for
human resources at Bay Medical
Center in Bay City, Mich. He also
taught basic personnel manage-
ment at Delta College in Bay City.
Johnson is returning to Sinai,
having been personnel supervisor
at the hospital from 1976 to 1979.
Johnson received his B.S. de-

Community Education Depart-

and Betty Goldin Health Care

Dr. William H. Restum, chief of

dren's speech and language skills
during their preschool years, the
danger signals of communication
