Judge James DeAnda added almost $100,000 in interest to the settlement and $297,000 in attor- ney fees to the law firm of Nelkin & Nelkin of Houston, which re- presented the clients, according to Boycott Report, issued by the American Jewish Congress. The periodical said that this is the largest judgement ever awarded in the United States in a case of anti-Jewish discrimination. Judge DeAnda found that Baylor College had entered into an agreement with King Faisal Hospital under which Baylor was to send cardiovascular sugical teams to the hospital in Saudi Arabia on a rotating basis for a three-month assignment. The Saudis reimbursed Baylor for the salaries of the surgical teams sent to their kingdom. Baylor admitted that it had not assigned the plaintiffs, Dr. Lawr- ence Abrams and Dr. Stuart Linde, qualified anesthesiologists with the respective ranks of asso- ciate and assistant professor, be- cause they were Jews, the Report noted. It had assumed that the Saudis would not grant entry visas to Jews. W. Berlin concerned over influx of Arabs Bonn'(JTA) — A spokesman for the West Berlin municipality has expressed grave concern over the influx from East Berlin of Pales- tinian and Lebanese Arabs expel- led from Sweden last week. He said West Berlin could not tolerate a situation in which per- sons who do not qualify for the status of political refugees never- theless enter the city and settle there. The Arabs landed at East Ber- lin's Schoenefeld Airport and entered the West by using public transportation between the two sections of the divided city. There is no passport control on the west side of the Berlin wall and anyone allowed to leave by the East Be- rlin authorities can do so without being questioned. The West Berlin municipality is disturbed because the Arabs are without means of support. They are expected to apply for benefits provided to persons requesting asylum, a process that sometimes take years to complete during which the applicants are fed and housed by the municipality.
