Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Slotkin was a resident of Holly, Mich., New York and Palm Be- ach, Fla. .Mr. Slotkin's father, Samuel, founded the Hygrade Food Products Corp. in 1914 and the younger Mr. Slotkin began working for his father as a youth. He was elected president of Hygrade in 1949, when he moved the corporate offices to Detroit. Under his leadership, Hygrade grew to be the fifth largest meat packing company in the United States. In 1956, he was elected chairman and chief executive offi- cer, a position he held until the company was sold in 1969. In 1977, Mr. Slotkin became senior vice president and director of United Brands and chairman and /-171,1 ikfinr rell Meat Packing Co. He was a director of the Ameri- can Meat Institute and of Sinai Hospital of Detroit. He served on the War Production Board and O.P.A. during World War II and was president of the Eastern Meat Packers Association. Mr. Slotkin served as the Food Division chairman for the Allied Jewish Campaign. He was a member of Franklin Hills Coun- try Club, Harmonie Club in New York, the Banyan Country Club in Palm Beach, Fla., the Standard Club of Chicago, Ill., Temple Beth El.
