The CNJS and Temple

adults at 8:15 p.m. Oct. 26 at the
temple.
Howard Simon, executive di-
rector of the American Civil
Liberties Union affiliate in
Michigan, will speak on "What's
at Stake in the Election of 1984?"
at 8 p.m. Oct. 30 at the main
Jewish Center. There is an admis-
sion fee.
Chai Skiers will have a
- weekend of downhill and cross
I country skiing Dec. 28-Jan. 1 at
1.;oyne Mountain. The trip in-
cludes four nights accommoda-
tions at Springbrook Hills Resort,
free use of cross country trails,
breakfasts, snacks and dinner,
New Year's Eve party, sauna.
Carpools will be arranged. Dis-
I count will be offered for fee paid
by Nov. 17. Persons who pay dues
by Oct. 31 will not be assessed a
surcharge.

YJAA's photographic road rally
slated to take place Oct. 14, be-
ginning at 2 p.m. at the Morris

20 for the group's second annual
hayride scheduled to take place on

Arts council to give
educational and
cultural grants

The Southfield Arts Council is
now accepting applications for its
1984-1985 Grants-in-Aid Pro-
gram. Under the program, cul-
tural and educational organiza-
tions, located in or operating
primarily in the Southfield/
Lathrup Village area, may apply
for project or operating grants.
Grant applications will be ac-
cepted until Oct. 3.
Scholarships in the visual,
literary and performing arts will
also be available to qualified resi-
dents of Southfield and Lathrup
Village and students enrolled in
any regular accredited school lo-
cated' in either of those two cities.
The application period for schol-
arships is Nov. 1-Jan. 15, 1985.
