'Israeli journalist due in Windsor

Yoram Hamizrachi, Middle
East analyst, journalist and
writer-lecturer, will speak at 8
,p.m. Wednesday at the Windsor
Jewish Community Centre, 1641
i Ouellette.
The talk is sponsored by the
Windsor Branch of the Canadian
Institute of International Affairs,
the Windsor Jewish Centre and
B'nai B'rith of Windsor.
Topic of Hamizrachi's talk is
"Contemporary Disputes in the
Middle East."
Hamizrachi was born in
Jerusalem. He is the foreign
correspondent in Canada for
Yediot Aharonot, a Tel Aviv daily,
as well as a reporter for the
"Foreign Journal" on Israeli
radio.
His journalistic career started
in the 1960s both in Israel and
abroad. He worked for American
TV networks such as CBS, NBC
and ABC, for German TV, and
published articles in newspapers
all over the world. He has been a
foreign correspondent in Europe
and in Africa and visited many
other countries as a journalist.
In Israel he has covered the Sy-
rian and Lebanese borders for Is-
raeli TV, the Israeli radio and the
press. In Canada, where he ar-
rived 21/2 years ago, he has had his
own column in the Jewish Post
and is a regular contributor to

"Canada AM" and the CBC's "As
It Happens."
Hamizrachi also had a second
career with the Israeli army.
Holding the rank of colonel he was
the commanding officer of the Is-
raeli liaison unit to Lebanon. He
is a specialist in intelligence,
guerilla warfare and counter-
terrorism..
In Canada, Hamizrachi lec-
tured at various universities on
the Lebanese crisis and on media
issues. He was also guest speaker
at a number of organizations in-
cluding the CIIA. Currently he
teaches a course on the Middle
East Conflict (department of con-
tinuous eduction, University off'
Manitoba).
He is also a writer and has pub-
lished a novel, The Golden Lion
and the Sun, which is based on his
experience in Iran.
