JEWISH TERRORISM became a topic of major concern
this year in Israel when a number of Orthodox settlers
were arrested on charges of attempting to bomb several
Arab sites. Rabbi Moshe Levenger, above, a leader of
the Gush Emunim movement, was arrested in May for
suspicion that he knew of terrorist attacks by Jewish set-
tlers against Palestinians.

ARAB TERRORISM continued this year with several major attacks in Jerusalem. Four peo-
ple died in a bus explosion in December and dozens of people were injured, shown
above, when Arab gunmen opened fire on a busy downtown street.
