A leading developer of high- powered surgical lasers, which are used in operating rooms around the world, is Laser Indus- tries, which grossed $8.2 million in 1983. Scitex Corporation had profits of $9.3 million in 1983. Scitex markets industrial image- processing systems for printing, publishing, packaging, mapping and engineering documentation. Meanwhile, Electronics Corpo- ration of Israel, a Tel Aviv com- pany which markets and man- ufactures advanced telecom- munication systems and has in- troduced a method that doubles the capacity of telephone systems, showed profits of $2.5 million in fiscal 1983. In 1983, sales for Elscint totaled $72 million. Elscint produces high-technology instruments de- signed to detect disease in the human body.
