T'chiyah has
guest rabbi

Cong. T'chiyah will host Jacob
Staub, a member of the faculty of
the Reconstructionist Rabbinical
College in Philadelphia, Pa., on
Saturday. Rabbi Staub will speak
on "The Reconstructionist Ap-
proach to Shabbat." Services
begin at 10 a.m.
Rabbi Staub serves as editor of
The Reconstructionist, the move-
ment's magazine. He is also act-
ing director of the department of
medieval civilization at the col-
lege. He has written many arti-
cles and books on Reconstruc-
tionist themes and co-authored
The Reconstructionist Approach
to Judaism.
Rabbi Staub is a graduate of
Temple University and the State
University of New York. He re-
ceived his ordination from the Re-
constructionist Rabbinical Col-
lege.
In addition to being the guest
speaker on Shabbat, Rabbi Staub
will be assisting members of
T'chiyah throughout High Holi-
day services.
Cong. T'chiyah is located in the
Greektown area of Detroit. The
synagogue is in the community
center building at 1035 St. An-
toine.

begin its Symposium 1985 series
at 8:30 p.m. Monday in the tem-
ple.
Doug Ross, director of Project
Self-Reliance and former State
Senator, will speak on "How Are
We Different from People on Wel-
fare?"

a special Yizkor service to be held
1:30 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Lincoln
Towers for persons who are un-
able to attend a synagogue serv-
ice.
The congregation, under the di-
rection of Rabbi David A. Nelson,
and with the aid of David Brody,
has compiled a Yizkor pamphlet
to be used at the special service.
Arrangements at the apartments
were made by Mrs. Gilbert Wein-
berg and Mrs. Esther Nussbaum.
Chuck Bressler, whose
grandparents Mattie and Jack
Bressler reside at the apartments,
will conduct the service.
Beth Shalom will have a public
Yizkor service at 4 p.m. Oct. 6.
