FUEDOR LIGHTERS Dr. Golden named for Bond honor Tam-O-Shanter Country Club member Dr. Donald Golden will be the guest of honor at the club's 11th annual Israel Bond tribute dinner to be held Oct. 24 at the club. Dr. Golden will receive the State of Israel's Jerusalem City of Peace Award in recognition of his outstanding dedication to and support of Israel, civic and philan- thropic causes." Since 1972 when Tam hosted its first Bond dinner the club has held the national leadership in club-sponsored Israel Bond events. For 11 years in a row, Tam-O-Shanter Country Club has sold more Bonds than any similar organization in the United States. This year's dinner co-chairmen will be former honorees D. Dan Kahn and Jack Shenkman. Kahn also is chairman of Israel Bonds for Metropolitan Detroit; Shenkman is an associate chair- man. In the early 1940s Dr. Golden left Wayne State University to become part of an optometry firm where he helped develop the then struggling practice of fitting con- tact lenses. He was among the youngest of only 25 men in the United States capable of this pro- cedure. Becoming involved in the re- search and development of con- tact lenses Dr. Golden traveled, with his wife, Norma, all over the country lecturing on this new product. Later, cooperating with the renowned • German scientist, A.
