Kaufman, chairman of the Balfour Women's Committee. The Balfour Celebration con- cert is set for 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at Ford Auditorium. The concert will feature concert pianist David Syme, Claire Barry of The Barry Sisters and actor, singer, come- dian and TV personality, Mike Burstyn. Mack Pitt and his Or- chestra will provide the music. Proceeds from the Balfour Cel- ebration will benefit ZOA's Kfar Silver campus, near Ashkelon, Is- rael, a modern 520-acre educa- tional complex, housing six aca- demic and vocational institutions: The Science and Agriculture School, the Sylvia and Alexander Hassan Technical HIgh School, an aviatidn high school, the American High. School Program, a nursing school, a junior high school and the David and Lillian Stern American-Israel Youth In- stitute. The ZOA House in Tel Aviv, re- cently augmented by the Ivan J. Novick Institute for Diaspora- Israel Relations, will also be aided. Another beneficiary will be the Masada Israel Summer Pro- gram, which this year enlisted over 600 participants from throughout the country and is ranked as the second largest such program in the United States. Jane Sherman to direct local U.S.-Israel business group At the initial meeting of the newly established American- Israel Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. of Metropolitan De- troit, Jane Sherman was chosen as its first president. To serve on the executive board with her are: Jack Zwick and Norman Pappas, vice presidents; Peter Alter, secretary; James Saf- ran, treasurer.
