Argentina who protested the dis-
appearance of their sons and
helped bring down the Argentine
dictatorship; and South Africans
of all races who risk positions and
life to "protest and expose the
cruelties of apartheid."
While the Nazi genocide was
"unique in the annals of human
depravity," Shultz said, "in every
generation the capacity for evil in
the human spirit can be con-
fronted and eventually defeated
by justice and by sacrifice."
Whether it is "state-sponsored
terrorism, genocide in Cambodia
or anti-Semitism masquerading
as anti-Zionism in the United Na-
tions, the legacy of the rescuers
admonishes us all to stand up and
fight back," Shultz 'declared.

Jerusalem (JTA) — American
oil magnate and renowned art col-
lector Armand Hammer will dis-
cuss the plight of Soviet Jewry
with President Constantin Cher-
nenko when he meets the Soviet
Leader in Moscow this weekend.
Hammer was asked to do so in
Jerusalem Tuesday by Deputy
Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir,
who spoke of the intensified per-
secution of zionist activists and
refuseniks in the USSR.
Hammer, who spent part of his
early career in post-revolutionary
Russia, is one of the few Western
personalities welcome in the
Soviet Union.
The oil magnate flew into Israel
Monday night on his first-ever
visit to the Jewish state, landing
in his private jet at Atarot airport.
Hammer was in Jerusalem to
mark the opening at the Israel
Museum of an exhibition of paint-
ings from the Middle Ages to the
present day taken from his exten-
sive and outstanding at collection.
The exhibition has been on dis-
play in several leading cities
around the world.
During his brief visit, Hammer
met with Premier Shimon Peres,
called on his old friend Menachem
Begin .in Shaare Zedek Hospital,
visited Hadassah Medical Center
where he is to contribute substan-
tively to cancer research, and
attended a reception in his honor
at the Museum.

Militants stay
in Arab house

Jerusalem (JTA) — About 40
militant Jewish settlers from
Elon Moreh on the West Bank
spent part of the weekend in a
rooming house in nearby Nablus.
They left Saturday night vowing
to return until the government
agrees to the establishment of a
Jewish enclave in the all-Arab
town.
The militants, associated with
the Gush Emunim, said their ges-
ture was aimed at keeping up the
settlement momentum on the
West Bank. They reserved rooms
at the house last week, saying
they were for a group of "Japanese
tourists."
