Absence of Arab
workers disrupts
Israeli work week

Jerusalem (JTA) — The ab-
sence of some 80,000 Arab work-
ers from their jobs in Israel during
the latter half of last week caused
serious work disruptions.
The Arabs were on a three-day
leave to mark Id Al-Adha, the
feast of sacrifice which is the cli-
max of the annual pilgrimage to
the Moslem holy places in Mecca
and Medina. In Herzliya, the
municipality declared "a day of
Jewish labor," asking volunteers
to replace the vacationing Arabs.
