September/ Elul 1984 has been
designated as Merkaz Education
Month. During this month the
Merkaz will focus on increasing
the Jewish community's aware-
ness of the mitzvah of shatnes
(prohibition against wearing

Early deadlines

The Jewish News will have
early display and classified
advertising deadlines for
the issue of Sept. 28. The
display advertising dead-
line will be 4:30 p.m. Thurs-
day, Sept. 20. The classified
deadline will be 2 p.m. Mon-
day, Sept. 24. The editorial
deadline will remain at 12
noon Friday, Sept. 21.
For the issue of Oct. 5, the
editorial deadline will be at
12 noon Wednesday, Sept.
26. Regular display and
classified advertising dead-
lines will be observed.

its KosherGram mailing list,
which has now surpassed the
8,000 mark, reaching individual
homes, synagogues and schools in
43 states and six foreign coun-

organizations a filmstrip which
introduces the concept of shatnes
