telephone answering service and
as a drop-in center for senior
adults.
The Case Management Project,
which received $30,000, aims to
broker community based services
to the frail elderly who are most at
risk of institutionalization. The
Federation Task Force on Com-
munity Based Services to the
Non-Institutionalized Elderly
recommended the project in coop-
eration with the Area Agency on
Aging and the Kellogg Founda-
tion.
Funds totaling $11,500 have
been approved for Detroit partici-
pation in the Melton Project. The
program allows for a cooperative
educational venture between the
Melton Center of Hebrew Univer-
sity, Hillel and Akiva day schools
and United Hebrew Schools. In-
structors will be trained in the
curriculum developed by the Mel-
ton Center in Israel, with the goal
of making students more aware of
current issues dealing with Israel
and Judaism.
The foundation has approved
$10,000 for Project Interchange.

to create a group of informed
young American. leaders.
Continuing projects approved
for funding include the United
Hebrew Schools/B'nai B'rith In-
formal Education Program, to
which $12,900 has been allocated.
The program allows for further
interaction between UHS and
B'nai B'rith in their joint effort to
provide Jewish programming to
teenagers.
Now in its second year, the
University of Michigan Hillel
Professional School Outreach
Program received $10,500.
A total of $20,000 has been allo-
cated to the U-M Yiddish Profes-
sorship Project. During the pro-
gram's first year, Prof. Anita
Norich's classes in Judaic studies
were well attended and created a
high degree of participation and
enthusiasm for the program
among students at the university.
The foundation has approved
$6,000 for completion of the Study
of Detroit Jewish Elderly by the
U-M School of Social Work in
cooperation with the Institute of
Social Research.
Stanley J. Winkelman is
chairman of the Max M. Fisher
Jewish Community Foundation
and Mark E. Schlussel is the asso-
ciate chairman.
