Just Mispering'

Joe Wisper

Former Detroiter Joe Wisper of
Florida was in Detroit recently to
celebrate his 89th birthday.
Joining him for the celebration
were his children Arnold and
Marion Wisper of California and
Duke and Sally Wisper of Bir-
mingham.
Wisper was born on High
Street. which today is Vernor
Hwy.
While in Detroit, he was a
member of the Hannah Schloss
Old Timers, Washington Pro-
gressive Boys, Ashler Lodge,
Cong. Shaarey Zedek and the
Jewish War Veberans.
He operated Palmer Park Rec-
reation for 30 years, prior to his
retirement to Florida.

Genealogy group
plans to gather

The Genealogical Branch of the
Jewish Historical Society of
Michigan will meet at 7:45 p.m.
Sept. 18 at the main United He-
brew Schools building.
The evening will feature the
election of officers, reports on the
National Jewish Genealogical
Seminar and news about the Rus-
sian Consular records. There also
will be a problem-solving session.
