ONLY THING MISSING at
premier showing of enlarged
celebrities' photos party in Some-
rset Mall . . . was a self-portrait of
the artist herself . . . lovely Linda
Solomon.
Perhaps, one day, this very
charming, personable and warm
celebrity in her own right will cast
aside ultra-humbleness . . . and do
a photo that will be an absolute
knockout . . . one of herself.
About 200 people were pos-
itively awed at Linda's "Focus On
The Famous Chapter III" showing
. . . aisles upon aisles of 16x20
famous faces . . . on heavy
artboard backing . . . against the
waves of wooden standards.
Her photographs, which can
still be seen this Sunday, are abso-
lutely superb . . . Such fabulous
artistry . . . Even in posed shots,
Linda likes a little candid . . . Her
candid action pictures are little
short of great . . . including a fan-
tastic one of tough "Mr. T" bend-
ing and hugging a little girl .. .
Most of the pictures are in color
but black-and-white elegance is
brought out in President Ronald
Reagan, Walter Mondale, James
Stewart, Ray Charles, Yul Bren-
ner and John Houseman.
A very proud mother and
father, Mona and Dan Rappoport,
looked on with much pride while
their celebrity photographer
daughter with the long golden
brown hair smiled in such very
gracious warmth.
Linda's "Star Tracks" column
appears regularly in the Detroit
News, always with one oilier owh
photographs about a famous per-
sonality . . . She covered this
year's Academy Awards and the
Democratic convention in San
Francisco . . . Her works have
been published in numerous
newspapers and national maga-
zines . . . Delightful Linda is also a
free-lance photographer for
United Artists Films.
Mona and Dan had two reasons
for much glow this night . . . the
party for Linda and appearance
from San Francisco of their other
daughter, Jill, also with lengthy
hair, but dark, and like Linda,
wearing glasses atop her head .. .
Jill is a news and feature reporter
wit KRON-TV.
So many people enjoying a very
fine evening . . . Attorney Hank
Baskin "talking it over" with
WXYZ-TV client Marilyn Turner
. . . Marilyn (Berman) and Gary
Habsburg in from Chicago for
90th birthday of her
grandmother, Celia Gross . . . Dad
Dan Rappoport to grow his mus-
tache again . . . Mother Mona so
lovely in her beautiful white dress
and blonde hair . . . Elliot "E.T."
Trumbull wearing:: a sterling
silver "vase" boutonniere with
flowers given him by Rosanne
Schlussel . . . Detroit Pistons
great Isiah Thomas never without
a smile . Kelly Burgess of De-
troit News with an inside track to
take Matt Beer's place . . . Kelly
has a lot of talent and not a vicious
bone in her body . . . Hope she gets
it.
Amid surroundings of the
gorgeous photographs by Linda
Solomon was another work of art
.. the culinary expertise of
George Golematis, whose Geor-
gio's Restaurant in Birmingham
has retained the reputation
gained while at the small spot on
Greenfield in Oak Park.
Although George has shown his
gourmet styling at catered affairs
of Hyatt Regency and Michigan
Inn, this was his first under the
Georgio's name . . . From the oohs
and ahhs of so many people, it cer-
tainly won't be his last ...
George's excellent display was
true artistry . . . ice carvings that
included a wine rack . . . with real
bottles of wine . . . As fast as the
wine was served, so went a very
delicious, large sectioned salmon,
lined in the center with shrimp
. . . Such a lavish display of food
. . . The many folks who oogled
with agogged eyes were amazed at
Georgio's presentations . . . pates
wit Dom Perignon champagne,
shrimp, crab fingers, cheeses ga-
lore, shish kebob, oysters, mari-
nated artichokes, beef kebob .. .
tenderloin with chutney sauce
and Grand Marnier . . . sweet
French onions (so yummy) that
looked like little green grapes,
small French pickles and so many
other goodies . . . but no luscious
pistachio cream pie which wife
Maria makes for the restaurant.
Georgio's food was a great com-
plement to this pictorial showing
by Linda Solomon . . . whose
photographs of Presidents Rea-
gan and Ford are prominently
displayed at the White House.
Her long, flowing, brown and
golden intermixed hair . . . corn-
bined with a pleasurable sweet-
ness . . . and extraordinary talent
. . . are facets which very few fig-
ures in the world of celebrity-dom
can refuse when Linda wants to
take their pictures or interview
them.
Through the years, I have gar-
nered a number of show business
celeb photos . . . but this collection
is miniscule to that of Linda's.
And the one autographed pic-
ture I don't have to go along with
Frank Sinatra, Jerry Lewis,
James Garner, Steve McQueen,
Myron Cohen, Ann-Margaret,
Don Rickles, etc. is of probably the
finest still photographer clicking
a camera anywhere . . . Linda Sol-
omon . . . the celebrities' celebrity.
BLOOMFIELD CHAR-
LEY'S, Orchard Lake Rd. and
Maple, has opened its doors again
. . . after renovation following
fire.
NANCY GURWIN'S dinner-
theater production of Neil Si-
mon's hilarious comedy, The Odd
Couple, opens Sept. 22 at Allen
Park Motor Lodge, Southfield Rd.,
between 1-75 and 1-94 . . . Per-
formances will be every Frii-lay
and Saturday night through Nov.
24 . . . 6:30 cocktails, 7:30 sit-
down dinner, and show at 8:45 .. .
Dinner and show admission will
be $17.95 per person.
The Odd Couple is directed by
Nancy Brassert . . . and stars
Edgar A. Guest, III as Oscar
Madison, and Gael Barr as Felix
Unger . . . The movie had Walter
Matthau as Oscar, and Jack
Lemmon as Felix.
Served will be a choice of either
prime rib au jus or chicken cordon
bleu. A fish entree will be offered
upon reservation.
"NOT AFRAID" is five-piece,
