The Moon Festival, a holiday
celebrating the Chinese autumn
and harvest, will be featured at
the Southfield Civic Center Sept.
23.
The festival will feature per-
formances of the Little. West Gar-
den (Hsiao Hsi-Yuan) Puppetry
Troupe, from Taiwan. The troupe
will perform on a miniature stage,
dressed in traditional Chinese
costumes.

munity groups appealing. Screen-
ing and training of potential vol-
unteers will take place at
HAVEN starting Sept. 11.

only rape counseling center, also
announces a new "Victim Advo-
cacy" program directed at assist-
ing rape victims and their
families as they go through the
medical and legal procedures in-
volved.
Volunteers are sought who will
be trained in crisis intervention
techniques, medical and legal
procedures, and will be contin-
ually working to impact the sys-
tem to provide better services to
victims.

featured in
Birmingham

The Birmingham Society of
Women Painters, 40th Annual
Exhibition, heads the list of fall
shows at the Birmingham Bloom-
field Art Association.
The opening, at 7 p.m. Sept. 14,
is open to the public and will fea-
ture a dance performance at 8
p.m. by Gayle Eubanks of the
Harbinger Dance Company.
The show runs from Sept. 15
through Oct. 6, and is open Mon-
day through Saturday from 9;30
a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Art exhibition
in Oak Park

The art works of Marilyn Zeldes
of Oak Park will be featured in a
diplay, "Images in Retrospect," at
the Oak Park library, beginning
Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Monday through Thursday, and
from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday
