Jewish college student groups
cited with Haber Award
The Hillel Foundation at
Wayne State University
and the Jewish Students
Organization at Oakland
University have been
awarded the Haber Award
for the Holocaust Education
Project.
The award is named for
University of Michigan
Prof. William Haber, who
has served as a member of
the International Hillel
Commission.
The award will be pre-
sented at the next Interna-
tional Hillel Commission
meeting, tentatively
scheduled for October.
Every September the two
organizations send a notice
to every teaching faculty
member at WSU and at
Oakland University in-
forming them of the
Holocaust Education Proj-
ect. They provide a lecturer
on a topic related to the
Holocaust to any professor
who invites the organiza-
tions.
The Holocuast Education
Project was developed by
Prof. Boaz Kahana, Prof.
Liela Goldman and Rabbi
Eliezer Finkelman.
Meanwhile, the Hillel
Foundation is now taking
applications for the first
Catherine Direnfeld Memo-
rial Scholarship.
The scholarship fund was
established by B'nai B'rith
