Jordan will
renew ties
with Egypt

Washington — Jordan's
King Hussein has decided to
re-establish full diplomatic
relations with Egypt,
Newsweek magazine re-
ported this week.
According to the maga-
zine, the king sent an emis-
sary to Egypt last month for
,discussions concerning the
renewed ties. Following a
two-hour meeting with
Egyptian President Hosni
Mubarak in Cairo, the
emissary, Adnan Abu Adeh,
said that Jordan's relations
with Egypt are now "nor-
mal, lacking only ceremo-
nial shape."
Jordan joined 11 other
Arab nations in breaking
ties with Egypt shortly after
the signing of the Israeli-
Egyptian Peace Treaty in
1979.

Cabbage Patch
kids make aliyah

Tel Aviv (JTA) — An ad-
vertisement in the
Jerusalem Post announced:
"At long last . . . Cabbage
Patch kids make aliyah . .
It noted that "the original
world-famous Cabbage
Patch kids have finally ar-
rived in Israel,"
Many children in Israel
have heard about the dolls
but only a very few of them
have received the dolls
along with adoption papers
as presents from the United
States.
The advertisement did
not say whether the adop-
tion papers in Israel wil
certify whether the Ca
bage Patch kids hay
Jewish ancestry, in lin
with the demands of the Or
thodox parties for a cle
definition-of the religion of
child's mother.
