THE WRITE WORD

eXperience:"Y"Wir

If you find the right gift a chore,
And written words don't flow for you,
Let the "write words" from my pen pour,
To make a portrait fresh and new.
A character sketch I will create
To mark whatever you celebrate.
So let my "Write Words" speak for you,
And convey portraits, Oh so true!

Israelis view
Nigerian visit
OptirniStically

Jarisalem (JTA) — The
visit herei this week of two
leading~:' Nigerian per-
sonalities .is viewed by Is-
raeli officials as a "positive
developmenC However the
same officials expressed
caution about reading too
much into the political sig-
nificance of the event.
Alhag Ado Bayero, the
emir of the Kanu Moslems
of northern Nigeria, and
Alaievuwa Oba Okunze
Jijuwadop, king of the 12
million-member Christian
Uruba tribe, are officially in
Israel on a tour of Moslem
holy places, but they were
scheduled to see President
Chaim Herzog, Premier
Yitzhak Shamir and direc-
tor general of the Foreign
Ministry, David Kimche.
This marks the first time
leading Nigerian per-
sonalities have visited Is-
rael since Nigeria served
diplomatic ties with Israel
in 1973. Neither man holds
a government post but both
are prominent tribal lead-
ers and businessmen.

Hitler diary case
goes to trial

Hamburg, West Germany
— The hoax of the Hitler
diaries went to court this
week but the fortune which
was lost in the largest liter-
ary scam in recorded history
remains missing a year and
a half after the investiga-
tion into the case began.
A dealer of Nazi regalia
and a journalist faced trial
Tuesday on charges that
they bilked Stern magainze
out of $3.6 million for the 62
faked volumes.
The money, however, has
not been recovered, and pro-
secutors working on the
case must somehow make
sense of the conflicting re-
ports involved.
If they are convicted of
fraud, fired Stern reporter
Gerd Heidemann and
Stuttgart regalia dealer
Konrad Kujau will each
face 10-year prison terms.
Both have denied all
charges brought against
them.

Jetusalem (JTA) — Inter-

A4 4 —
144: ter Yosef Burg re-
jected ii-proposal by King
Hussein of Jordan to con-
vene an international con-
ference on the Middle East.
Speaking on Israel Radio,
Burg, who chaired Israel's
team in the now moribund
Palestinian autonomy
negotiations, charged that

Hussein was actually striv-
ing to include Palestinian
extremists and the Soviet
Union in the peace talks.
The United States and
Britain have also rejected
the proposal for an interna-
tional conference.
