Wayne State University will offer
fall course on the Holocaust era

The College of Lifelong
Learning of Wayne State
University is offering a cre-
dit course on the Holocaust
in the fall term through
WSU's Humanities De-
partment.
Humanities 265, "Topics
in Humanities: East Euro-
pean Life and Thought Dur-
ing the Holocaust Era" will

view humanity during the
peiod through films, art,
readings, music, and per-
sonal testimonies.
The course will be held in
Southfield at the WSU Ex-
tension Center, 27800
Franklin Rd. Monday eve-
nings, 6:30-9:30 p.m. begin-
ning Sept. 10, and will be
taught by Dr. Liela
Goldman. Dr. Goldman
teaches English at Michi-
gan State University and

gram at Cong. Shaarey
Zedek will kick off the
school year with a series of
student picnics Sept. 5-6 at
the synagogue in South-
field. '

The picnics for three-day
and five-day classes will be
held Sept. 5, with morning
students meeting at 9:30
a.m. and afternoon students
at 12:30 p.m. Picnics for
two-day students are
scheduled for Sept. 6, also at
9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. All
parents are invited.
A few openings are still
available in the Beth
Hayeled nursery and kin-
dergarten classes as well as
the programs for toddlers
and pre-schoolers. The
synagogue will also offer an
extended care program for
children before and after
regular school hours.
