• THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Friday, August 24, 1984 " 19 Joan Greenfield, Bloomfield Hills When I learned I needed surgery,' and my doctor recom- - mended Sinai Hospital, I was not happy. I had been at Sinai several times, the last time 10 years ago, and my experiences had not been pleasant. So this time I was braced to endure my hospital stay. The improvements at Sinai were nothing short of spectacular. During my week-long stay, I expe- rienced absolute perfection. There is so much sensitivity by every level of staff at Sinai, from the cheerful transporter who wished me well as he escorted me to my room, to the housekeepers who didn't miss a speck of dust anywhere. The anesthesiologist visited with me before surgery, to explain what I could expect, and again afterwards, to check up on my recovery. Surgery is not fun, but the Sinai nurses anticipated my dis- comfort and helped me to deal with it before it became a problem for me. For example, even getting in and out of bed after surgery can be very difficult. One nurse show- ed me how I could place my feet to make this easier. Such sugges- tions were valuableand most appreciated. I am a psychologist, and I'm aware that most people are quick to complain aboUt bad hospital ex- periences, but others who were pleased are less likely to make the effort to say so. It's that much more important for me, therefore, to tell about the excellence of care and service I received at Sinai Hospital. If I have to be hospitalized again, I won't hesitate to go to Sinai. Sinai is my hospital.
