the synagogue offers a 2 day a week school pro-
gram teaching Bat and Bar Mitzvah, Jewish Holi-
days, customs, history, Bible and Junior Congre-
gation.

Chief Judge John Feikens
of the U.S. District Court
will administer the oath of
allegiance . to newly-
naturalized citizens at 11
a.m. Wednesday in the
Jewish War Veterans
Memorial Home.
According to Commander
Al Rose, the ceremony is a
first for a veterans organ-
ization. Copies of the Bill of
Rights and American flags
will be distributed by the
Jewish War Veterans and
its Ladies Auxiliary, who
also will serve refresh-
ments.
The community is in-
vited.

SHAAREY ZEDEK Youth
Choir will hold a special
kickoff party at Meadow
Brook on Aug. 29.
All children in grades
four through eight who
enroll in the youth choir for
the coming year will be
treated to a trip to Meadow
Brook and a performance of
Oklahoma. There is a
charge. Buses will leave
Shaarey Zedek at 12:15 p.m.
Choir members should
bring a dairy lunch. Drinks
and treats will be provided.

Association of Parents of
American Israelis (APAI),
will hold its first annual
family picnic at the home of
Adele and Harmon Bayer,
6873 E. Knollwood Circle,
West Bloomfield on Sunday
at 2 p.m.
All parents with children
who live in Israel are in-
vited. Israeli families visit-
ing Detroit, whose parents
live here, also are invited.
Participants should bring
their own food and
campchairs.
Coffee, punch and kosher
cakes will be, provided.
In case of rain, the picnic
will move indoors. Call the

for symphony
Fall auditions for the
Metropolitan Youth Sym-
phony are set for Aug. 25 in
