EVERY SATURDAY FROM 12.4 THROUGH THE MONTH OF AUGUST Uptown Southfield Rd. at 111/2 Mile • 559-3900 JAPs and Jewish mothers I am more than pleased that you have printed the article by Beverly Davis concerning JAPs and Jewish mothers. It is time that the stereotype of the Jewish woman as a Jewish American Princess by erased from the Jewish community. It is surprising that the community so sensitive about a Jewish caricature has done nothing about this. Too many Jewish women actually are not hesitant to label themselves "Jewish American Princesses." They seem to think it ex- cuses them from expecta- tions of accomplishment in their personal, domestic or intellectual life. Hopefully the article here will help to bring this mat- ter to an end. Betty B. Cohen • maintain a Sunday service as opposed to Sabbath serv- ices (which we do not have) was so that we may comply with Sephardic tradition not to drive to shul on the Sabbath. The second erroneous statement in the article re- fers to the delaying of the services until we beseech a stranger from Lincoln Rd. to complete the minyan. In the almost two years we have had our minyan, at no time, ever, did we have to go beg- ging on Lincoln Rd. for a stranger. Thanks to the wonderful nucleus of reg- ular attenders, we usually exceed the required number needed for a minyan. The people who attend the mi- nyan are not concerned with publicity or fanfare. Rather, they come to pray in the Sephardic services To our readers. .. This letter is written in response to your article "Keeper of the Sephardic Flame" (Aug. 3). I have re- ceived numerous inquiries about the Sunday services of the Sephardic Commu- nity of Greater. Detroit. We pray the regular weekday services on Sunday morn- ing, not Sabbath services. The reason we elected to The Jewish News encourages our readers to share their opinions and comments. Brief typew- ritten, double-spaced let- ters are preferred. Our dream, in accordance with the dream of our foun- ders, is to build a shul where services will be conducted on a daily basis in the true Sephardic tradition. Only this will guarantee the per- petuaton of our glorious Sephardic heritage. Rabbi Avraham S. Cohen Survivors are sought for film On May 2, 1945, Ameri- can soldiers occupying Ludwigslust broke into an unexpected group of bar- racks and found, among piles of corpses, huddles of emaciated prisoners, some of whom survived. One of these survivors, Tibor Hirsch, a professional filmmaker, is planning a documentary film to com- memorate the 40th an- niversary of the liberation of that Nazi concentration camp, Wobbelin, near Lud- wigslust. As part of his re- search, he seeks to speak with other survivors of that camp, whom he has not seen since the day of liberation or never knew. They may respond to Hirsch or to me, at THT Productions, 152 E. 74th St., New York,,N.Y. 10021 (212) 772-1444.
