Tel%VilV -- If the Labor
artyisuceeds in forming
hAt government, there
will definitely be a woman
fiat* ealiinet, Labor Party
Chairman Shimon Peres
promised several hundred
members of Naamat-
Pioneer Women, the largest
Israeli women's organiza-
tion, at a recent meeting in
Tel Aviv.
He also indicated his sup-
port for freedom of choice on
the abortion issue: "The de-
cision to have an abortion
belongs, exclusively to the
woman," he said.
In related news, delegates
at an American Jewish
Congress meeting on
women's issues held in
Jerusalem earlier this
month met with Peres and
with Prime Minister Yit-
zhak Shamir to express
their concern for the status
of women in Israel.
In meeting with the party
leaders, the women pre-
sented a list of demands re-
lated to the role of women in
Israeli politics and govern-
ment. Among these de-
mands was a clause provid-
ing for an increase in the
number of women in ad-
ministrative positions.

atigilareprity forces are
coniludiag a widespread
