ZOA Executive to meet
Aug. 17-19 in Southfield

An assessment of the Is:
raeli elections ' and the
Jewish aspects of the
American Presidential
campaign, as well as panel
discussions on aliya, the
Falashas and the plight of
Soviet Jewry will highlight
the annual meeting of the
Zionist Organization of
America's National Execu-
tive Committee Aug. 17-19
at the Ramada Hotel in
Southfield.
The ZOA NEC will honor
Max Fisher with a tribute
luncheon at "the hotel Aug.
19, presenting him with the
Justice Louis D. Brandeis
Award. The luncheon will
be chaired by ZOA National
President Alleck A. Re-
snick.
The annual meeting will
open with an informal re-
ception and Oneg Shabbat
7:30 p.m. Aug. 17 and con-
tinue with sessions 8 p.m.
Aug. 18 at the Zionist Cul-
tural Center in Southfield
and at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Aug. 19 at the hotel. Mem-
bers of the ZOA NEC will be
guests at the opening cere-
monies of the United States
Maccabi Youth Games Aug.
19.

Jane Stern

Jane Stern, president of
Bar-Ilan University,
American Board of Over-
seers, will be the guest of
honor and, speaker at a
meeting of Detroit friends
and supporters of the uni-
versity Tuesday in the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Irving Nus-
baum, announced Donald
Fox and Paul Zlotoff, gen-
eral chairmen.

.The meeting will be in
advance of the university's
annual dinner on Sept. 18 at
Cong. Shaarey Zedek at
which Samuel Hechtman
will be honored and the
Hechtman Heroes Road
dedicated.

Mrs. Stern's appearance
will mark the beginning of
the public celebration of the
opening of Bar-Ilan's 30th
academic year. In addition
to her service as president of
the university's entire
American operation, she
also serves as a vice chair-
man of Bar-Ilan's Global
Board of Trustees, the first
woman to hold this position.
She has been involved in
the university's affairs at
all levels, and both she and
her husband Jerome have
been instrumental in the
development of its School of
Economics and Business.
Both Sterns hold honorary
doctorate degrees from
Bar-Ilan.
Mrs. Stern is a past na-
tional chairman of Women's
Division, State of Israel
Bonds, a position she held
for seven years. She is a
board member of the
American Friends of the Is-
rael Museum, the
American-Israel Cultural
Foundation, and the Man-
hattan Hebrew High
School. •
