Jewish artist
designs cards
for New Year

Cleveland — Michel
Schwartz, the internation-
ally acclaimed artist of
Judaic tradition, has pre-
pared a new series of Jewish
greeting cards for American
Greetings Corp.
Schwartz creates his de-
signs by incorporating He-
brew calligraphy into an art
style called "CaIli-Graphic
Judaica." Inspiration for
design concepts comes from
selected passages of the To-
rah, Talmud and Mishna, as
well as quotations by rab-
bis, scholars, philosophers
and poets.
The first line of Schwartz
cards will be available for
Rosh Hashanah. Schwartz
has designed several holi-
day front pages for The
Jewish News in recent
years.
