Compensation
available for
Nazi victims

New York — The United
Restitution Organization.
announced last month that
the German federal gov-
ernment approved limited
additional payments to
Nazi victims who left East-
ern Europe between 1953
and 1965 and had prev-
iously received compensa-
tion because they were in
concentration camps for
three years or longer. The
law covering these pay-
ments became effective
June 30, 1984.
Holocaust survivors who
years ago received on-time
payments for being i care-
erated in concentr tion
camps for three yearor-
more are entitled to a small
final payment because some
monies were left in the fund
which was created for this
purpose. Persons who were
in concentration camps for
three years will receive an
additional payment of DM
1,750. Those who were con-
fined for four years or more,
DM 2,400.
Individuals who meet the
eligibility requirements
will have to apply for these
additional payments. The
United Restitution Organ-
ization (URO), 570 Seventh
Avenue, 16th Floor, New
York, NY 10018, is avail-
able to assist individuals
who need help with the fil-
ing of claims.
