The Office of Special In- vestigations, the agency charged with acting against war criminals in the United States, is seeking specific information concerning two organizations operating in Polad from 1939 until 1941: the "Selbstschutz" ("Self- Defense") and the "Sonder- dienst" ("Special Service"). Jewish community center is functioning here, Miami Hebraica, with 400 Latin-Jewish families as members and the club hopes to recruit another 400 from the area's 2,000 Spanish- speaking Jewish families. Miami Hebraica was de- scribed in a recent issue of the Jewish Floridian as the northernmost outpost of a chain of Latin American Jewish social and athletic clubs. • • Moises Gorin, president, described Miami Hebraica as a copy of Jewish clubs in Latin America where the goal is to have something to do for every member from children to the elderly.
