Raoul Wallenberg:
Chamberlain gets role.

New York (JTA) —
NBC-TV will air a mini-
series next year on Raoul
Wallenberg, the Swedish
diplomat who rescued tens
of thousands of Hungarian
Jews from being extermi-
nated by the Nazis.
The script of the film,
based on interviews of
people who knew Wallen-
berg, books and articles, is
being written by Gerald
Green, who authored the
TV mini-series "Holocaust."
Rickard Chamberlain,
star of two successful mini-
series, "Shogun" and "The
Thorn Birds," is slated to
portray Wallenberg. The
series will focus on Wallen-
berg's activities from the
spring of 1944 to the end of
World War II in 1945.

Press, Knesset
have strongties

Jerusalem (JTA) — The
press and the parliament in
Israel have a symbiotic re-
lationship far stronger than
in any other country in the
world, according to a recent
study by Prof. Shevah
Weiss, a Labor member of
the • Knesset.
- He found that 63 percent
of the questions submitted
by MKs to government
ministers and 84 percent of
the motions presented in
the Knesset are based on
material or disclosures pub-
lished in the media.
Of the 120 Knesset mem-
bers, 29 are regular con- .
tributors to the press and
eight were in fact jour-
nalists before they entered
politics. Weiss said that a
comparison between "qual-
ity" newspapers in the U.S.
and Israel showed that the
latter devoted proportion-
ately three times more
space to news of the Knesset
than the American papers
gave news of Congress.
